Porsche Signed an Agreement with Boeing to Co-develop Electric Flying Car

The plan is to explore the market for future opportunities

Porsche, the German carmaker is now investing in the flying car concept that could be the transportation of the future. The car manufacturer unveiled that the company is collaborating with aerospace giant Boeing and it’s subsidiary Aurora Flight Sciences. Both the companies will work together to develop a prototype for a vertical take-off and landing craft which will run on electricity. Porsche is looking at the market of the future and preparing itself for all the opportunities that it will offer.

“Porsche is looking to enhance its scope as a sports car manufacturer by becoming a leading brand for premium mobility and that in the longer term this could mean moving into the third dimension of travel,” said Detlev von Platen, Executive Board Member for Sales and Marketing, Porsche.

The prototype of the flying car will be tested in 2020

Porsche is currently looking forward to building a two-seater craft with flying abilities can be manual as well autonomous. The company is planning to launch the final product after completion of development procedure. The first flight scheduled to happen in 2020.

The cooperation will include the research work in the market to search for the potential for airborne vehicles. The experts from both the firms will share knowledge about technical and business aspects of the project while working in the research centres in US, Germany and Switzerland.

Steve Nordlund, Vice President and General Manager of Boeing NeXt said, “This collaboration builds on our efforts to develop a safe and efficient new mobility ecosystem and provides an opportunity to investigate the development of a premium urban air mobility vehicle with a leading automotive brand.”
