Fedoras have been in vogue since time immemorial. A fedora hat has been a hot-favorite accessory for countless fashionable men and women across the globe for several years. We have come across many Hollywood stars, famous musicians, and celebrities flaunting fedoras time and again. Fedoras are still incredibly popular, and celebrities still flaunt them to make a bold fashion statement.

Way back in 1924, everyone was excited to see Prince Edward VIII visit the United States of America, wearing a suit with a fedora. The style was embraced by notorious Gangster Al Capone and Hollywood stars such as Humphrey Bogart. During the 1940s and the 1950s, Hollywood films used Fedora hats prominently to express a sense of mystery and manliness.

Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, and famous football coach Tom Landry and Paul Bear Bryant often flaunted stunning fedoras to steal the show. Moreover, the fedora hats came back with a vengeance in the 1970s. The fedora hats looked unique and practical when worn by Harrison Ford while portraying the role of Indiana Jones.

Harrison Ford popularized the fedora to such an extent that even in 2021, a fedora hat flaunted by Harrison Ford in the film ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ was sold at a whopping price $300,000 in Los Angeles at a regular ‘Prop Store auction’. The identity of the winner of this iconic fedora hat was not revealed. The hat in question was created for the Temple of Doom in 1984. The price at which the hat got sold indicates that Indiana Jones and his hats are not just iconic, they are still popular and held in high esteem among movie buffs. The Hollywood and fedora craze is still very much on. As per the Hollywood Reporter, this hat was designed and manufactured by ‘The Herbert Johnson Hat Company’. Incidentally, the same company was responsible for hats worn in the movie ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’.

The celebrities who sported fedora hats include Humphrey Bogart, Justin Timberlake, Prince Edward, Tom Landry, Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp. Fedora has been a phenomenally popular and staple fashion statement ever since its inception. It is very much an integral part of American culture. Many celebrities have been flaunting Fedora hats even off the screen. Most recently, the fedora hats made their presence felt on shows like Peaky Blinders and Mad Men.

Humphrey Bogart

In the classic Hollywood movies The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca, Humphrey Bogart seemed a fedora man as he was seen in the movies, wearing a trench coat and sporting a stunning fedora. He dressed very much like a fashionista in the 1940s. The fedora hat became a staple accessory in sleek Hollywood crime dramas. Even though the film noir was characterized by path-breaking camera techniques, and edgy themes, the fedora essentially defined this genre from the perspective of fashion.

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake was acknowledged and admired as ‘America’s Most Stylish Man’ way back in 2009. He has been a heartthrob as the NSYNC singer. He has publicly claimed to be inspired by Johnny Clash and Elvis Presley as his style and fashion influencers. Timberlake’s fashion and style sense has been acclaimed as classic menswear, immaculately tailored to get the contemporary look.

Tom Landry

The famous former coach of the Dallas Cowboys wore and popularized the fedora hat. He was a successful head coach for the Dallas Cowboys for 29 years. His illustrious career as NFL head coach came to an end with the phenomenal third-highest total wins in league history. He started sporting his trademark fedora hats as the assistant coach of the Giants. Initially, he wore fedoras to hide his bald head and protect himself from the chilly New York weather. Later he became famous for his style sense. He always presented himself immaculately dressed in his Sunday best: a suit with a matching tie and a stunning fedora. During the 2000 football season, we have witnessed the Dallas Cowboys wearing uniforms with a distinct fedora-shaped patch as a mark of respect to the legendary coach!

Walt Disney

There is enough evidence that Walt Disney wore a stunning brown fedora hat when he arrived in Hollywood in 1923. It was assumed that Walt flaunted German-made fedora hats to highlight an overall casual look and style. Fedora hats were then predominantly created by using felt. Even today, felt is a popular material choice for fedora hats.

Brad Pitt

Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt is a bright example of a contemporary Hollywood star that consciously incorporates the fedora hats into formal and casual dressing alike. Brad Pitt’s inclination toward gangster culture in films has been documented in Hollywood movies like ‘Allied’. In 2019, Brad Pitt made news by coming to the premiere of ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. He stole the show with his fedora that he flaunted with oodles of flair and elegance. He wore a tan suit and teamed it with a darker brown shirt, an exclusive beige fedora, and distressed desert boots. However, his stunning raffia fedora made all heads turn and stole the show.

Conclusion

Fedora hats have been in vogue since time immemorial, and this iconic accessory will be around for a long time. Many celebrities have flaunted fedoras to complete their attire and take their fashion to the next level.
