The American dry cleaning giant Tide Cleaners recently featured in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Growth Franchises list. The ranking is based on a three-year-long survey of the Top 150 companies with the greatest franchise growth in North America based on data extracted from the Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500. Tide was ranked 69 on the list.
A Trusted Brand
According to Clare Moore, Director of Franchising at Tide Cleaners, “Tide Cleaners is a competitive brand in a growing, in-demand industry.” She also said, “Earning a spot in the Top Growth Franchises list demonstrates the company’s success and commitment in franchise development.”
This company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Proctor and Gamble, leads the dry cleaning industry on the prestigious ‘Franchise 500’ list, holding the position of 97. Other competitors include Zips Dry Cleaners (317), Martinizing (332), Lapels Dry Cleaning (394) and Oxxo Care Cleaners (409).
For the purpose of assessing the companies, the Entrepreneur observed each company’s United States and Canadian numbers over the course of three years. They took into account the total positive growth registered in both countries and also the negative factors like terminations, non-renewals and other closures. The qualifying candidate had to have registered a positive growth of at least five units each year. Given the rapid changes in 2020, COVID-19 factors were not counted.
“By maintaining steady, sustained growth over several years, these franchises have demonstrated that they have the systems in place to support their franchisees and help them become successful,” said Jason Feifer, the editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur. He further added, “Now, as these and other companies around the country face unprecedented challenges, they may see their growth slow, but that record of success could prove more important than ever.”
Tide Cleaners was founded in 2008 by Agile Pursuits Franchising, Inc. as Proctor and Gamble’s subsidiary and launched its franchises the following year. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company is presently the second-largest dry cleaner in the United States according to the number of units. It represents Tide, an American brand of laundry detergent trusted and used for more than 70 years.
The vision of Tide Cleaners is to come up with innovative solutions for making clean clothes more convenient for busy people. Currently, the company has 180 locally owned and operated locations in more than two dozen states and more than 1800 locker locations all across the United States.
