Spotify Launches Dedicated Hub for Netflix-Related Media

Follow Us:

Popular music streaming platform Spotify has announced its collaboration with Netflix for launching a dedicated hub within the OTT platform. The hub will serve as a one-stop shop for all Netflix-related media—most of which are exclusive to Spotify.

In a recent statement, Spotify announced that, “On the hub, Free and Premium listeners in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, and India can access official soundtracks, playlists, and podcasts, along with exclusive Spotify content. By simply searching ‘Netflix’ on Spotify, you can find and sing along to the music behind some of your favorite Netflix shows all in one place.”

One-stop Shop

The hub is accessible from mobile phones and the web version of  Netflix. Within the hub, users can have easy access to the official playlists of some of Netflix’s quirky and popular shows such as La Casa de Papel (Money Heist), Bridgerton, and On My Block, including the official soundtrack for shows like Squid Game, Bruised, and Cowboy Bebop. It will also include Netflix-tied podcasts such as Okay, Now Listen, Netflix Is A Daily Joke, 10/10 Would Recommend, You Can’t Make This Up and those that delve into popular shows, like The Crown: The Official Podcast or Behind the Scenes: Shadow and Bone, and many more.

Wider Accessibility

The music streaming giant recently marked a rise in its premium subscribers in the third quarter and has highly benefited from the pandemic as more and more people tuned into the music platform during the COVID-19 pandemic for entertainment.

Moreover, with growing competition from other music streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Amazon Music, Spotify is planning to introduce new features to attract more subscribers. In 2019, Spotify collaborated with Disney to create the Disney Hub. The latest Netflix hub will be available to subscribers across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland and India.

Fueling Next-Gen Internet Obsession

The recent generation is not only drawing inspiration from the latest tv shows and movies but also giving rise to internet-wide obsessions. Within a few weeks of the launch of Squid Game’s debut on Netflix, Spotify listeners had created more than 22,500 unique themed playlists for keeping the experience intact and constant. It is also clear that after the credits roll, viewers are left wanting even more—and are turning to Spotify for accessing the quirky playlists.
