The New Electric Range Rover has officially entered the electric era as the brand’s first fully electric Range Rover. Jaguar Land Rover has opened orders for the new SUV, bringing electric propulsion to the Range Rover lineup while retaining its established design, luxury positioning, and all-terrain capability.

Built at JLR’s Solihull plant in the UK, the Range Rover Electric combines a large battery, dual electric motors, fast charging, and a new traction management system. The model starts at $138,000 in the U.S., while UK pricing starts at £154,070 for the entry-level Autobiography.

The New Electric Range Rover is the first battery-electric SUV to carry the Range Rover name. JLR has developed it on the company’s flexible vehicle architecture, allowing Range Rover models with electric, plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid, and internal-combustion powertrains to share the same broader platform.

The electric model keeps the familiar Range Rover proportions and design language while adding aerodynamic changes to support electric efficiency. These include an optimized grille, revised wheels, and a tailored underbody.

What Is the Range Rover Electric Price?

The Range Rover Electric price starts at $138,000 in the U.S., according to JLR, while the UK entry-level Autobiography starts at £154,070. Pricing varies by market and specification.

Jaguar Land Rover has also introduced higher-specification versions, including SV models and a curated First Edition. The First Edition features exclusive exterior colors and a distinctive interior specification.

The pricing reflects the vehicle’s position within the Range Rover lineup and its combination of electric performance, luxury materials, technology, and all-terrain capability.

How Far Can the Range Rover Electric Travel?

The Range Rover EV range reaches up to 372 miles under the WLTP testing cycle. The U.S. EPA-rated figure reaches up to 333 miles, giving customers different official range figures depending on market and testing standard.

The Range Rover Electric has a 118.5kWh battery with 344 prismatic lithium-ion cells arranged in a double-stack configuration.

The vehicle also introduces an 800-volt architecture with split-charging technology. Using a 350kW rapid DC charger, JLR states that the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes. The system can also add up to 125 miles of EPA-rated range in 10 minutes under maximum charging conditions.

JLR has developed ThermAssist heat-management technology to manage battery and cabin temperatures. The system can add up to 25 miles of range in certain conditions and reduce energy consumption for heating by up to 40%.

What Performance Does the Electric Range Rover Offer?

The electric Range Rover uses dual electric motors, with each motor producing up to 260kW. Together, they deliver up to 542 hp and 850 Nm of torque.

The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 4.3 seconds. Its electric powertrain also provides rapid torque delivery, while silicon-carbide power electronics help manage energy and performance.

JLR has also developed an electric traction management system that can respond to wheel slip in as little as 50 milliseconds. This system manages torque delivery across changing surfaces and supports the vehicle’s established all-terrain driving characteristics.

Can the Range Rover Electric Go Off-Road?

The Range Rover Electric’s off-road capability remains a central part of the vehicle’s engineering. The SUV can handle 900mm water wading, while its traction management system adjusts power delivery across different surfaces.

The electric drivetrain also supports single-pedal driving on slopes of up to 45 degrees. A lower center of gravity and twin-chamber air suspension further support the vehicle’s driving dynamics.

JLR tested the SUV across a range of environments, including extreme cold in Sweden, desert conditions in Dubai, and off-road terrain at its Eastnor Castle facility in the UK. The company reports more than 1.5 million kilometres of physical testing and more than 250,000 hours of virtual testing.

The New Electric Range Rover maintains the recognizable design of the Range Rover family rather than adopting a separate visual identity for its electric powertrain.

JLR has made targeted aerodynamic changes to improve efficiency while preserving the model’s established proportions. The optimized grille, wheels, and underbody distinguish the electric version while keeping its overall Range Rover character intact.

The cabin also retains the luxury-focused approach associated with Range Rover, while the electric powertrain adds a quieter driving experience and faster response.

Where Is the New Electric Range Rover Made?

Jaguar Land Rover builds the New Electric Range Rover at its Solihull plant, the historic home of Range Rover production since 1970. The facility also produces other Range Rover models using the same broader flexible architecture.

JLR manufactures the electric drive units and battery packs at its Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, supporting the vehicle’s electric powertrain production in the UK.

The company has also filed more than 300 patent applications connected with the vehicle, covering technologies including battery systems, electric motors, and ThermAssist heat management.

The New Electric Range Rover brings the brand’s established luxury SUV formula into the battery-electric era.
