OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialized ChatGPT Work experience designed for financial institutions. The platform combines GPT-6 Astra with built-in financial data and tools to support research, financial modeling, analysis, and customized client materials. It is initially focused on investment banking and equity research and is available to eligible financial institutions.

What ChatGPT for Financial Services Offers

ChatGPT for Financial Services is built around financial professionals’ daily work. OpenAI developed the product through design partnerships with Morgan Stanley and Evercore, using their input to identify practical financial workflows.

The platform supports tasks such as value analysis, LBO modeling, buyer screening, earnings analysis, and pitchbook preparation. It brings financial data, analysis, and document creation into a single working environment.

The initial rollout focuses on investment banking and equity research, with OpenAI planning to expand the product into other financial-services categories.

What Can GPT-6 Astra Do for Financial Analysis?

GPT-6 Astra provides the core reasoning capabilities behind ChatGPT for Financial Services. OpenAI highlights three areas that are particularly important for financial work: information retrieval, financial reasoning, and artifact generation.

GPT-6 Astra can work with figures, tables, and supporting notes in financial documents, perform financial analysis, and turn the results into documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. These capabilities support AI financial research and AI financial modeling while keeping the underlying work available for review.

Which Financial Data Sources Are Included?

Financial data is a central part of ChatGPT for Financial Services. The platform includes premium datasets from Daloopa, PitchBook, and LSEG News, covering areas such as earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, and private-company information.

OpenAI indexes and hosts this data on its infrastructure to improve retrieval and latency. The platform also provides granular citations, allowing users to trace figures and claims back to specific tables and passages while reviewing their analysis.

The product also supports financial data integrations with existing providers, allowing firms to connect additional data sources to their workflows.

How Can Firms Turn Financial Analysis Into Client Materials?

ChatGPT for Financial Services allows administrators to publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates through a dedicated administration interface. Firms can also configure style guides for their teams.

These templates let financial professionals turn analysis into valuation models, research notes, and pitchbooks that follow the organization’s established format and style.

What Security Controls Does ChatGPT for Financial Services Provide?

AI governance in banking is an important part of ChatGPT for Financial Services because financial institutions work with confidential client and business information.

The product builds on enterprise controls including SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, role-based access controls, encryption at rest and in transit, and configurable workspace retention. Business data is not used to train OpenAI’s models by default. Compliance teams can also export supported workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform for audit and investigation workflows.

What Does the ChatGPT for Financial Services Launch Include?

The ChatGPT for Financial Services launch brings together GPT-6 Astra, financial datasets, source-level citations, firm templates, and enterprise controls in a dedicated environment for financial professionals.

The initial product is centered on investment banking and equity research, giving teams tools for financial research, modeling, analysis, and client-material creation. Available to eligible financial institutions, the platform is also set to expand into additional financial-services categories as OpenAI continues working with industry partners.
