About the Company

Hyland was founded in 1991 when Packy Hyland envisioned an easier way to help his client, Necedah Bank, become more efficient and effective by digitally storing, processing and accessing information. Using innovation and ingenuity, Packy developed the first iteration of OnBase, Hyland’s content services platform, to help the bank digitize operations and better serve its customers.

Today, Hyland has become a leader in providing software solutions for managing content, processes and cases for organizations across the globe. For more than 25 years, the company has enabled more than 19,000 organizations to digitalize their workplaces and fundamentally transform their operations. Named one of Fortune’s Best Companies to Work For® since 2014, Hyland is widely known as both a great company to work for and a great company to do business with.

World-class Hosting Architecture

Hyland offers on-premises, cloud, and hybrid deployment options for OnBase and other products in its software portfolio, including ShareBase, the company’s cloud-based sharing application. The Hyland Cloud, a secure hosting architecture, supports the cloud deployments and provides the same functionality as on-premises options.

Building the Right Team to Stay Ahead in the Business

The team at Hyland firmly believes that their success is two-fold, and places high importance on being both a great organization to work with and a great company to work for. To do this, they have created a devoted human resources team focused on building a trusting, inclusive and fun work culture, where employees feel valued and respected. This helps the content services provider attract and retain the best talent. When employees are happy and engaged within their jobs, they deliver and achieve greater results on both a personal level and for the organization. Hyland’s success is achieved by putting its employee and customer success above all else.

Additionally, the company hires industry experts from the markets it serves, to ensure the content services software it develops meets the major challenges professionals working in healthcare, finance, insurance, higher education, and government experience. The knowledge these industry experts bring, paired with the innovative information management technology, enables Hyland to deliver unique and impactful solutions to solve organization’s biggest business challenges.

As an established leader in the content services space, Hyland’s biggest upcoming challenge will be to scale and evolve the business while expanding into new markets and regions. To meet this challenge, the team is relying on the core values that have guided its success to date. These values include treating employees like family and focusing on customer success. Referring to the same, Bill asserts, “By continuing to do what we do best — hiring the right people and keeping them happy, listening to the needs of our customers and building the solutions that help them realize their full potential — we’ll continue to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing business landscape.”

Bill’s Advice to the Young Technology Professionals

Drawing on his experience in the business world and leading a technology company, Bill advises young technology professionals to listen to everyone. Feedback from customers and teammates guides the development of products and processes. The technology industry is always in flux, he says, so he encourages new hires to soak up knowledge and share it with teammates to help the company stay ahead of the competition.

Bill is a firm believer and follower of Hyland’s core values, which help him make better decisions every day. He suggests young people to do the same. “Conducting business in an honest, ethical way isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s the only way to achieve long-term success for your customers and your business,” he shares.
