Noise Cancellation and Attendance Report
Google’s video conferencing app Google Meet has recently introduced a new noise cancellation feature on Android and iOS –that can filter out sounds during a call. Alongside this, it is also planning to add an attendance report feature for schools. Earlier, Google meet had given the option for users to blur the background but now it has come with a noise cancellation feature. This new improvement will let users make calls from any surroundings be it a busy road or a hotel.
According to reports, this feature will filter out the noise made from keyboard typing, doors opening and closing, and even the construction outside the window. Meanwhile, the feature will not be available for everyone. As of now, the noise cancellation feature would be available to G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers. The G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite for Education, or G Suite for Nonprofits accounts would not get the feature.
Updated Interface for the Mobile App
Earlier this month, Google also updated the user interface of the Google Meet mobile app for iOS and Android. The new update brings several changes in terms of design as well as features. The new UI also brings the apps user-interface in-line with the current Google Meet experience in the Gmail app. Earlier, the app used to directly open into the front camera mode with options laid out at the bottom which was annoying for the users.
However, with the update, Google has modified the home screen with two new tabs –New Meeting and Join Meeting. Tapping on the New Meeting button further brings a sliding menu that offers options like sharing meeting details, joining an instant meeting, and scheduling a meeting in Google Calendar. Additionally, the section also provides details about all the upcoming meetings scheduled on Google Meet. Google has also simplified joining a meeting by offering a dedicated button, on which the users can simply tap and enter the meeting code to join a meeting.
