Nearly 5,000 Medical Centers Surveyed
Before finalizing the top 20 best hospitals in the U.S., the U.S. News analyzed data from nearly 5,000 medical centers and survey responses from more than 30,000 physicians to rank hospitals in 16 adult specialties including cancer, cardiology, diabetes, rheumatology and more.
The factors considered for ranking were as follows survival rates, patient experience, specialized staff, and advanced technologies.
Basic Weightage of Scoring
Below is the basic weightage of major components considered for scoring the hospitals:
- Structure – 30%
- Process/expert opinion – 27.5%
- Outcomes – 37.5%
- Patient experience – 5%
