Audi has officially unveiled the new Audi A2 e-tron, bringing the A2 name back as a fully electric compact car focused on efficiency, range, and everyday practicality. Revealed in Paris on September 7, the new model offers a WLTP range of up to 646 km (401 miles) and starts at €38,200 in Germany.
The new Audi A2 e-tron is positioned as an entry-level electric model for the compact segment. Audi says it is the most efficient series-production model in the company’s history, with energy consumption as low as 12.8 kWh/100 km.
New Audi A2 e-tron: Efficiency and Performance
The New Audi A2 e-tron efficiency figure is one of the car’s biggest selling points. The 140 kW version with the optional efficiency package achieves the 12.8 kWh/100 km figure under WLTP testing.
Audi has also worked on aerodynamics to reduce energy consumption. The car has a 0.24 drag coefficient, the best figure in Audi’s compact segment. Features such as a largely enclosed underbody, aerodynamic wheels, controllable cooling-air intake, and wheel-arch gap reducers contribute to the design.
The result is an Audi compact electric car designed around reducing energy use rather than simply increasing battery size or power.
Audi A2 e-tron Range Reaches 401 miles.
The Audi A2 e-tron range varies according to the powertrain and battery configuration.
The 170 kW version with an 84 kWh battery delivers the maximum 646 km (401 miles) WLTP range. The 240 kW version with the same battery reaches up to 630 km.
The lower-power models offer ranges of up to 515 km with the 61 kWh battery and 423 km with the 52 kWh battery.
This gives buyers different options depending on whether they prioritize efficiency, range, performance, or price.
Audi A2 e-tron Battery and Charging Details
The Audi A2 e-tron battery lineup includes 52 kWh, 61 kWh, and 84 kWh capacities.
The 52 kWh and 61 kWh batteries use LFP cells, while the 84 kWh battery uses NMC chemistry and is available in the 170 kW and 240 kW versions.
The Audi A2 e-tron charging capability reaches 183 kW on the 84 kWh models. Audi says they can charge from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes.
The 61 kWh version supports charging at up to 105 kW, while the 52 kWh model supports up to 100 kW. Their 10% to 80% charging times are 26 minutes and 24 minutes, respectively.
The Audi A2 EV also supports optional bidirectional charging. Its Vehicle-to-Load system can supply electricity to external devices, while Vehicle-to-Home capability can be used with suitable equipment in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Audi A2 2026 Interior, Space, and Features
Despite its compact footprint, the Audi A2 2026 is designed to provide a relatively spacious interior. The car has a 2.77-meter wheelbase, helping Audi create more cabin space without making the vehicle large.
Inside, the car gets an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and a 12.8-inch MMI touch display. Audi’s AI-powered assistant and e-tron route planner are also part of the technology package.
Cargo capacity stands at 396 liters, increasing to 1,336 liters with the rear seats folded. An optional panoramic glass roof measures approximately 1.6 square meters.
The model is also offered with driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, emergency brake assist, attention assist, parking system plus, and a reversing camera.
Audi A2 Electric Returns With a Familiar Name
The new Audi A2 electric revives a nameplate that first appeared in 1999. The original A2 entered production in 2000 and became known for its lightweight aluminum construction and focus on efficiency.
Audi ended production of the first-generation model in 2005 after producing 176,377 units.
The new electric hatchback carries forward that efficiency-focused philosophy, but replaces the original combustion-powered lineup with an all-electric powertrain.
New Audi A2 e-tron Price and Release Date
Audi will open orders for the new Audi A2 e-tron in Germany on September 10, 2026, with the first vehicles expected to reach Audi partners in December 2026.
The German pricing starts at €38,200 for the 125 kW model with a 52 kWh battery. The 61 kWh version starts at €41,900, while the 170 kW model with an 84 kWh battery costs €48,900. The 240 kW flagship starts at €51,200.

What the New Audi A2 e-tron Means for Audi
The new Audi A2 e-tron marks Audi’s return to an efficiency-focused compact model, this time with an electric powertrain and multiple battery and performance choices. With its 401-mile maximum WLTP range, low energy consumption, and compact dimensions, the model gives Audi a new entry point into its electric lineup while bringing the A2 name into the current EV market.
