The Amazon advanced manufacturing facility will integrate advanced fabrication, robotic welding, automated powder coating, and assembly under one roof. Amazon also says the facility will use AWS and AI-powered smart manufacturing systems and robotics.

Why Is Amazon Expanding Robotics Manufacturing in Indiana?

Amazon selected Greenwood because Indiana offers manufacturing talent, logistics infrastructure, and access to engineering workers, according to Amazon and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. The Indianapolis region has a pipeline of more than 2,500 industrial engineering graduates annually, while Indiana’s advanced manufacturing sector supports more than 518,000 jobs.
Indiana’s central location and transportation infrastructure also connect the Greenwood facility with Amazon’s broader fulfillment network. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation says the state’s transportation infrastructure ranks 13th nationally and provides access to Amazon facilities across North America.
Amazon’s Greenwood project adds to an existing Indiana footprint. Amazon says it began operations in Indiana in 2008 and has since invested more than $40 billion in the state and created more than 27,000 jobs.
