Long before he ever sat in a boardroom, Stan Chia was responsible for twenty-seven enlistees and seven sergeants, moving an armored infantry platoon through the Singapore Armed Forces with the kind of precision that leaves no room for improvisation. He held the rank of Lieutenant, a title earned between December 1999 and March 2002, and it is tempting, looking back at the two and a half decades that followed, to see that early command as the template for everything he built afterward. Discipline first. Then scale.
Today Stan is the Chief Executive Officer of Housecall Pro, a role he assumed in June of 2026, stepping in to lead an AI-powered field service platform built to serve the tradespeople, plumbers, electricians, and HVAC technicians who keep American homes running. He arrived at the company after Housecall Pro announced his appointment as the successor to Michael Beaudoin, who moved into the role of Chairman of the Board, and the timing was notable. The company is trusted by home service professionals who have collectively served one in four American homes, a scale that made the choice of who would lead it next a genuinely consequential decision.
Six Sigma Before Silicon Valley
Stan’s path there was long and deliberately industrial before it ever touched software. After graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, he spent nearly five years at GE Energy, starting on the Operations Management Leadership Program in June 2005 before becoming a Black Belt in Energy Services Sourcing in 2007 and eventually a Master Black Belt in Global Parts. In that role, he helped drive Lean Six Sigma methodology across a fulfillment operation he has described as worth $3.7 billion, work that trained him in the unglamorous mechanics of supply chains long before operations became a buzzword attached to venture-backed software.
From GE, he moved to Cisco Systems in March 2010, spending three years and one month leading customer-focused change through Cisco’s value chain organization, before Amazon recruited him in April 2013. At Amazon, he took on a series of leadership assignments spanning customer excellence and retail operations, eventually becoming General Manager of the company’s Toys & Games business, with responsibility for the category’s overall profit and loss.
Feeding a City, Then Scaling a Marketplace
In April 2015, Stan joined Grubhub as Chief Operating Officer, a post he held for three years and eight months. It was a sprawling mandate that spanned corporate, restaurant, and enterprise sales, go-to-market strategy, business development, operations research and data science, acquisition integration, and a portfolio of delivery brands including Restaurants on the Run and Dining In. Grubhub, at the time, was one of the largest online and mobile food ordering marketplaces in the country, and his operational fingerprints were on most of what made it run. During his tenure, he helped expand Grubhub’s delivery network dramatically and scale the company’s restaurant network to more than 95,000 restaurants in 1,700 cities.
That experience became the audition for his next act. In November 2018, he was named Chief Executive Officer of Vivid Seats, based in Chicago, a position he held through 2025. The headline achievement of that tenure was steering the ticketing company through its public market debut on Nasdaq, and helping scale the business through a combination of product innovation, technology investment, and acquisitions, the same playbook, in miniature, that he would later bring to a company built for the trades rather than the box office.
Champion of the Pro
When Housecall Pro announced Stan’s appointment, he described the opportunity in his own words as one where “the mission, market and opportunity all line up.” It is a tidy summary of a career built almost entirely around finding companies at an inflection point and pushing them through it. At Housecall Pro, that mission is explicitly framed as championing the Pro, the tradespeople and small business owners the platform serves, by expanding the product and accelerating what the company calls practical AI innovation, the kind meant to hand technicians and business owners back their time rather than replace them outright.
Alongside his executive roles, he has built a parallel life on boards and in advisory rooms. He serves on the Board of Directors of Slickdeals, and remains a Board Director of 1871, Chicago’s hub for early-stage technology startups. He also sits on the President’s Advisory Board of the Georgia Institute of Technology, a relationship that began with the university’s industrial engineering advisory board. In 2026, he also became involved in Sterra AI and Chia Advisory, ventures focused on AI-enabled software, operating transformation, and advisory work.
A Resume Full of Recognition
The honors have accumulated alongside the titles. Stan is an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Midwest Award winner, was named Outstanding Tech CEO at 1871’s Momentum Awards, and has been recognized by both Crain’s Chicago Business’s 40 Under 40 list and the Stevie Awards. He holds an MBA from Emory University, layered on top of his Georgia Tech engineering degree, a combination of technical rigor and business fluency that shows up in how methodically he talks about scaling organizations.
His career has followed a clear pattern: a Lieutenant’s instinct for structure, a Six Sigma engineer’s obsession with process, and two decades of choosing companies mid-transformation rather than companies already arrived. Housecall Pro is his newest such bet, and its focus on software, automation, and practical AI for home-service businesses puts that experience directly into the field-service technology market.
