Dr. Adrijana Kekic: The Longevity Pharmacist Rewriting the Rules of Aging

The human body is a noisy place. At any moment, trillions of processes are occurring inside you. Proteins are folding, metabolites are rushing through cellular corridors like commuters on a train platform, and genes are turning on and off like switches in a breaker box. Most of the time, we are oblivious to this internal clamor. We only notice when the noise stops or when it escalates into the screeching alarm of a symptom. By that time, something has usually already gone wrong.

Dr. Adrijana Kekic is fascinated by this noise. She focuses on the subtle hum that precedes a crash. For nearly two decades, she has been attentively listening to these biological signals with a level of intensity that most people reserve for watching stock tickers or following sports statistics. She does not see the body as a mystery box that occasionally malfunctions; instead, she views it as an information system.

“I have always believed that the future of health isn’t about treating disease,” she says. “It is about understanding the body’s signals before things break.”

This simple statement represents a profound shift in how we approach health and wellness. For a long time, medicine has been a reactive practice: you get sick, you visit a doctor, and you receive a prescription. Dr. Kekic is a pharmacist by training, but she has moved far beyond the traditional counter and the prescription pad. She calls herself a “longevity pharmacist,” a title that reflects her commitment to both time and chemistry.

As the CEO and Founder of Futurome™, she is currently developing what she refers to as a “Health Operating System.” This ambitious project aims to organize the vast and chaotic data of human biology, including genomics, metabolomics, and proteomics, into something comprehensible. She is working to transform the body’s noise into clear and actionable signals. While she serves high performers who want to extend their prime, she is also building the infrastructure for a healthcare system that is slowly, and often painfully, awakening to the notion that biology is simply information waiting to be decoded.

The Education of a Translator

To understand why Dr. Kekic views a patient as a data set, it is important to consider her background. She has a foundation in pharmacology and systems biology, disciplines that encourage thinking in networks rather than linear patterns. In pharmacology, one learns that a molecule is never just a molecule; it acts as a message. When a drug is introduced into the body, it sends a signal to a cell, instructing it to speed up, slow down, or halt its activities.

“I was drawn to the idea that molecules are messages and that biology is information waiting to be decoded,” she explains.

This insight led her into the complex field of multiomics. For those unfamiliar, multiomics is like examining a house from every possible angle at once. Genomics provides the blueprint of the house. Transcriptomics indicates which lights are on. Proteomics reveals the furniture inside. Metabolomics shows who is entering through the front door. Traditional medicine generally focuses on only one or two of these layers, but Dr. Kekic aimed to view the entire house.

Her academic journey reflects her desire for a broader perspective. She didn’t limit herself to the lab; she pursued executive education at Harvard Medical School with a focus on health and wellness. In 2024, she earned a Master of Healthcare Innovation from Arizona State University. She recognized early on that understanding science was only part of the equation. To truly effect change in people’s lives, one must also comprehend the systems in which they exist.

The Mayo Clinic Decade

Before launching her own venture, Dr. Kekic spent a decade at the Mayo Clinic, one of the world’s most prestigious medical institutions. This period was marked by significant growth and rigorous practice. She was not merely an observer; she was a pioneer in her field.

From June 2015 to May 2025, she worked as a Pharmacogenomics Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, becoming one of the nation’s first professionals in this role. Pharmacogenomics is the study of how an individual’s genetic makeup affects their response to medications. It represents the essence of precision medicine. Rather than administering a standard dose and hoping for the best, Dr. Kekic utilized genetic data to predict how a patient’s body would process a specific drug.

Her role required substantial communication and explanation. She needed to convey complex genetic concepts to doctors who had been practicing medicine in a traditional manner for many years. Additionally, she had to inform patients why a medication that was effective for one person might be harmful to them. In this way, she bridged the gap between the emerging science of genomics and the practical realities of patient care.

Her drive for innovation extended to the cutting edge of technology. During her tenure, she won the Mayo Clinic Office of Entrepreneurship 2023 Roadrunner Sprint Healthcare Innovation Competition. This award recognized her work in personalizing medicines through the converging technologies of multiomics, digital twin, and 3D drug printing.

Dr. Kekic was also dedicated to education. For nearly ten years, she served as the Assistant Program Director for Experiential Education in Pharmacy and was a faculty lecturer at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, where she taught psychopharmacology. In recognition of her efforts, she was named Preceptor of the Year for 2020/21.

Her commitment to education is a cornerstone of her character. She does not hoard knowledge; instead, she shares it freely. Dr. Kekic understands that for precision medicine to thrive, it must extend beyond a select group of specialists and be imparted to the next generation of clinicians.

“I work on spearheading Pharmacogenomics into clinical practice,” she notes of her time there. It was work that required patience, precision, and an unshakeable belief that better data leads to better care.

The Birth of Futurome

In May 2025, Dr. Kekic left the Mayo Clinic to launch Futurome™. This move marked a significant shift from the security of a large institution to the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship, but it was essential for her vision. Having witnessed the limitations of the traditional healthcare system, even at a prestigious place like Mayo, she realized that the focus was primarily on treating the sick. Dr. Kekic wanted to focus on those who are well. Her goal was to identify individuals who were operating at 80% of their potential and help them reach 100%, while also maintaining that peak performance as long as possible.

“Futurome™ was built on that belief,” she explains. “We combine advanced data—digital biomarkers, multiomics, artificial intelligence, and real-world evidence—to create personalized health operating systems.”

The company operates on two main tracks. The first is a high-touch concierge service tailored for executives, entrepreneurs, and athletes. Dr. Kekic refers to these individuals as “changemakers,” as their performance affects not only themselves but also the organizations and communities they lead. For these clients, generic wellness advice is inadequate. They need specific insights, such as which vegetables their metabolism prefers, rather than a simple suggestion to eat more greens.

To meet these needs, Dr. Kekic developed a program that incorporates a wide range of tests, including metabolomics, microbiome analysis, mitochondrial function, proteomics, genomics, and epigenetics. She integrates this molecular data with the “digitome”—the continuous stream of information from wearable devices that monitor sleep, heart rate, and activity levels.

“This isn’t wellness,” she asserts. “This is health intelligence for those who want to stay ahead and protect their health.”

By analyzing this comprehensive data, Futurome™ can identify hidden health issues before they manifest as symptoms. This approach enables Dr. Kekic and her team to develop targeted interventions based on the principles of lifestyle medicine. Essentially, it creates a “health operating system” for individuals: a dashboard that provides precise insights into how their body is functioning and what it needs to continue operating optimally.

Building the Infrastructure

If Dr. Kekic were satisfied with running a boutique clinic for high achievers, that would be an impressive career in itself. However, her vision is much broader. She recognizes that the main challenge in precision medicine is not the science itself, but rather its delivery. Many doctors do not know how to order a metabolomics panel or interpret the results.

To address this, she is simultaneously developing a B2B longevity platform. “I’m building a B2B longevity platform designed to empower clinicians, longevity brands, and luxury wellness resorts,” she states.

This initiative highlights her commitment to “servant leadership.” She is not trying to be the sole expert capable of navigating complex data; instead, she is creating a tool that enables other clinicians to access multi-omics testing and AI-generated protocols. Her goal is to bridge the gap between emerging science and its real-world application.

Dr. Kekic has led the design of a digital infrastructure that provides data integration, Large Language Model (LLM)-driven coaching, and client engagement tools. Essentially, she is “franchising” her expertise. By incorporating the knowledge she gained at Mayo and Harvard into a software platform, she allows doctors in rural clinics and wellness directors at resorts to offer the same level of precision care.

“Futurome is more than just a longevity company,” she explains. “It’s the infrastructure behind personalized health at scale.”

Standardizing Excellence

Dr. Kekic is dedicated to advancing personalized medicine, a commitment that extends beyond her own company. Since March 2025, she has been a Medical Advisory Board Member for The Pause Technologies Inc. ThePause aims to integrate personalized artificial intelligence into menopause management.

Menopause has traditionally been addressed with broad and imprecise approaches, failing to account for individual differences. “With AI’s ability to analyze vast amounts of data and learn individual health patterns, the company hopes to offer more precise, tailored treatments to each individual woman,” she explains.

In this role, Dr. Kekic is advocating for a population that has long been underserved by conventional healthcare models. She is utilizing data to validate individual experiences, demonstrating that women’s health is not a one-size-fits-all issue, but rather a complex personal journey that deserves a detailed and customized approach.

Further cementing her reputation as a leader in the field, Dr. Kekic has recently been appointed as the Director of Precision Pharmacology for the American Board of Precision Medicine. This prestigious role underscores her position in setting the standards for the future of clinical practice.

Grounded in the Street

There is a significant concern in the field of longevity medicine that it may become a playground for the ultra-wealthy, focusing on the pursuit of immortality while being disconnected from the harsh realities of everyday survival. Dr. Kekic distances herself from this issue by staying grounded; specifically, in the streets of Phoenix.

For many years, starting in 2013, she served as a key volunteer with the H.O.M.E. (Homeless Outreach through Medicine and Education) project. “The H.O.M.E. project serves an average of 60 patients a month and engages more than 500 Midwestern University students each academic year,” she explains.

During her time with the organization, she acted as a preceptor for the students, providing free acute medical care and education at CASS (Central Arizona Shelter Services) and UMOM (New Day Centers). She worked with the homeless population, who are at the opposite end of the economic spectrum from her Futurome clients.

Dr. Kekic treats these individuals with the same philosophy she applies to her wealthier clients. She utilizes the same interdisciplinary team approach and teaches pharmacy and medical students how to collaborate effectively to solve problems for patients who have very little. While Dr. Kekic is not actively involved in the day-to-day operations at this time, she continues to staunchly support their mission.

This work is crucial to understanding Dr. Kekic. It demonstrates her belief in health intelligence as a universal concept. Whether she is examining the epigenetics of a CEO or treating an acute infection in a homeless veteran, she is always searching for the same thing: the signal. She aims to determine what the body truly needs.

The Architect of the Future

Leading a global team of clinicians, creatives, and developers requires a unique style of leadership. Dr. Kekic must be multilingual in a professional sense; she needs to communicate effectively with coders, doctors, and designers. She oversees the entire brand experience, from onboarding new clients to designing premium packaging.

Dr. Kekic delivers executive education and keynote speeches, advocating for the principles of pharmacogenomics. She constantly pushes the boundaries of what is possible, managing the cross-functional global team necessary to bring comprehensive enterprise solutions to fruition.

As she looks toward the future, Dr. Kekic envisions a world where guesswork is eliminated from medicine. She imagines a time when we no longer have to wait for a heart attack to realize we have heart disease. She anticipates a future where biology is not determined by fate, but by data; and that data can be managed effectively.

Dr. Kekic has devoted her life to understanding the code of human life. Now, she is creating the software that will enable others to interpret it as well. She is the architect of a new healthcare model; one that is quieter, smarter, and marked by meticulous precision. She is tuned in to the future and is ensuring that we can all hear its message.
