Microsoft buys a startup to boost its cloud service

Microsoft, a software giant has recently bought startup Deis. This startup specialises in containers, which is a modern way to develop and deploy software.

This deal is made to boost the Microsoft’s cloud because software containers are expected to be the new building blocks of all the cloud-based applications.

According to a study, the containers constitute a hot category because many businesses are turning to third-party public clouds like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, to run their applications efficiently.

Scott Guthrie, Executive Vice President Microsoft said in a blog post that Deis gives the developers means to vastly improve application agility, efficiency and and more importantly reliability through their Kubernetes container management technological techniques.

Microsoft claims that it has seen extremely high growth in both interest and deployment of containerised workloads on Azure.

The company is expecting that the Deis’ technology will simplify the services for customers to work with Microsoft’s existing container portfolio including Linux and Windows Server Containers and Azure Container Service.
