WISeKey International Holding Ltd, a Swiss-based organization, declared that it is launching its new NanoSealRT NFC secure component to enable IoT devices with NFC to authenticate and communicate with each other.

This NanoSealRT NFC will be used for customer product verification and traceability. The technology is based on a cryptographic algorithm for data protection and the digital signature with a 2kbit EEPROM non-volatile memory and NFC based communication interfaces. This robust architecture can be attached to any product including high-tech accessories, sports gadgets, drone battery packs, e-cigarettes refills and medical accessories.

WISeKey International Holding AG provides an integrated platform for consumers to deploy secure authentication, identity, and encryption in physical and virtual environments for electronic transactions, Internet of Things (IoT), the blockchain, and artificial intelligence (AI). The company manufactures a range of secure microcontrollers used in smartcards, smart cities, drones, anti-counterfeiting, smart lighting, servers, mobile phones, etc. Their popular product, QuoVadis is a WISeKey’s brand for managed public key infrastructure (PKI) that provides cloud services for digital certificates, eID, and electronic signatures; and ISTANA PKI, which offers identity lifecycle management for IoT ecosystems.

NFC with tamper detection technology

NanoSealRT utilizes a patent-pending verification algorithm based on NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF) which works with NFC enabled Android or iOS platforms. Its 3-dimensional sensing tamper detection technology detects a magnetic field in an unspecified direction, making it suitable for tamper detection of consumer products.

Olivier Debelleix, Director of Brand Protection & Wearable Security Business Unit for WISeKey said, “The NanoSeal complements the existing VaultIC1xx product family for large volume consumer markets where robustness and cost-effectiveness are a must.”

Further, he stated, “Although particularly designed to enhance WISeKey’s WISeAuthentic platform for brand protection, the NanoSealRT is packaged to integrate with any logistics and traceability platform giving each object a unique identity.”

This innovation will help WISeKey to be a global leader in digital security market as NanoSealRT NFC can surpass the compromised Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.
